Our research group started its work in 2012 within the framework of the research project of the Hungarian OTKA (National Scientific Research Fund), entitled The Hungarian population's legal consciousness - theoretical and empirical analysis, which, after a one-year extension, ended in autumn 2016. Subsequently, the processing of the empirical data recorded in the previous research period and the publication of the results were supported by the Ministry of Justice in the academic year 2016-'17 within the framework of the Programmes for the Improvement of the Quality of Legal Education 2016. In view of the multifaceted nature of the topic, one of the main efforts of our research group has been to collaborate with relevant domestic research institutions, in particular the law sociology research workshops of the Law Schools of Debrecen, Miskolc and Szeged, the Department of Legal and Social Theory of Eötvös Lóránd University's Faculty of Law and the Department of Social Psychology of Eötvös Lóránd University's Faculty of Education and Psychology. The half a dozen symposia and conferences organised in recent years have provided an opportunity for mutual exchange and discussion of research results. Several of these conferences and symposia have been organized in cooperation with the Research Group (Legal Consciousness Research in Hungary, organized by the Legal Sociology Research Group of the Department of Legal Philosophy, and the Interdisciplinary Legal Research Group of the Institute of Legal Sciences, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, 2015. 4th November 2016. The Natural History of Legal Culture, jointly organized by the Legal Sociology Research Group of the Department of Legal Philosophy and the Law and Language Research Group of the Faculty of Law, Pázmány Péter Catholic University, 2nd May 2019). The volume presenting the research results was published in 2018 by Pázmány Press under the title Jogtudat kutatások Magyarországon 1967-2017 (Legal Consciousness Research in Hungary 1967-2017).
In the meantime, both György Gajduschek and Balázs Fekete participated in new research programmes related to the topic of legal consciousness, which broadened the scope of previous research towards international comparative studies, significantly extending the research network of the Research Group.
